If you want to understand my personality, it can best be summed up as a curious wanderer. Growing up, my family moved about every 3-4 years as my father worked his way through the ranks of American Airlines. He had worked for American for over 40 years when he retired, and over that time we lived in eight different states, 10 new houses, an experience that shaped who I am and how I see the world.
I spent many of my formative years in Strongsville, Ohio, however, where I began my love of golf and sports in general, competing on my high school team, and writing, where I wrote freelance stories for a local paper. I had no idea both of those passions would turn into a career.
What I did know was I wanted to go to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, and in 1996 I graduated and began four of the best years of my life. Those years at Miami influenced transformational change in my personality, breaking me out of a shell and building confidence in speaking, meeting people and leading them. I joined a fraternity, Theta Chi, and became their philanthropy chair, running several charity events and creating new ways to raise money and recruit new members. I then applied my writing in my free time to a year working as sports editor at the Miami Student, where I won a writing award. Those little moments set up a winding career that would take me around the world several times over.
